This tutorial is offered with an aim to assist scientists to develop and enhance their capacities for better and effective presentations in this new era of competitiveness and need for marketing the knowledge using the aid of computer. However, the tutorial is designed for beginners and also the IT -literate professionals.. Based on the level of their knowledge, the users are advised to surf to the section they are interested.

The sessions are:

  1. Basics of MS PowerPoint- the tutorial relies on this versatile software as the main tool used in presentations. The first session deals with some of the basic elements, menus and commands encountered .It is recommended for those who are new to this software and aims to systemically expose the elements of the software in creating presentations.

  2. Enhancing elements- the most sought after use for any scientists would be the means to put data into tables, graphics and graphs. This session deals with the various modes for embedding tables and building graphs keeping aesthetics and scientific value in harmony.

  3. Integrating multimedia into presentations - Using other applications with PowerPoint linking files and using the multimedia choices for more effective presentations are introduced in this session.

  4. Guidelines for good presentations- this session aims to give some tips and hints in computer generated presentations to bring more precision and rationality in an atmosphere of too many enhancing but confusing tools available.
